Gas Pumps Coming to Horsham Point

The Giant fueling station will be constructed where a shuttered bank is now situated.

In addition to filling grocery carts at the store on Horsham Road, shoppers will soon be able to fill their gas tanks.

Kimco Realty Corp., developer of the Horsham Point shopping center - where the grocery chain, a CVS and several eateries are located - got the ok to build four gasoline pumps with eight fueling stations where a shuttered Sovereign Bank is located on Horsham and Dresher roads. 

The Horsham Township Council voted unanimously during this week's meeting to grant preliminary and final approval for the plan, which has been in the .

Plans call for the demolition of the existing bank building to make way for the gas station. Gregory Reed, Kimco Realty Corp. director of Acquisitions and Development, told Patch that demolition would begin in 30-45 days. From there, Reed said the pumps would be open within 90-120 days, by year's end. 

According to its Web site, Giant operates 64 gas stations throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia, all within close proximity to the grocery stores.

Locally, Giant earlier this year opened a gas station in Willow Grove along York Road, which is about three miles away from the Horsham Road location.
