District Court Relocation Underway

Hatboro District Court is expected to open in a new space on Monday.

At long last Hatboro District Judge Paul Leo's court is moving to a new home.

The relocation from the second floor of Hatboro Borough hall to an adjacent space within the Victorian Village strip mall is expected to conclude this week. Leo's new courtroom is slated to open on Monday, according to Hatboro Borough Manager Fred Zollers.

In all, the expense of retrofitting the space has grown from its original $292,200 cost to a contract totaling close to $340,000. The council approved the most recent change order for the project during Monday night's meeting.

As far as the municipal building space soon-to-be empty, Zollers said there are no plans yet to rent the space out, or use it for another purpose.

Officials would "assess the condition after all their stuff's gone," he said.
