Coroner's Employee Fired After DUIs

Following her second DUI in 19 months, Rachel Rymann was terminated on Dec. 15

A Montgomery County medical investigator who was charged with two DUI incidents in the space of 19 months has been fired by the county coroner's office.

According to a report released Wednesday by the county salary board, Rachel Rymann, 33, was terminated effective Dec. 15.

While still on probation from a previous DUI arrest, in Lansdale on the evening of Nov. 10.

According to the official accident report, Rymann's blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was 0.32, which is four times the legal limit in Pennsylvania.  Rymann was later charged with DUI and careless driving as a result of the November accident.

Court records indicate that Rymann had accepted admission into the state's Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program following her initial DUI arrest in May of 2010, but a failure to successfully complete the program results in the reinstatement of the initial charges.

Without ARD, a first-time conviction of DUI with BAC of 0.16 percent or higher carries a mandatory three day to six-month prison sentence, along with a year-long license suspension and fines ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, according to Pennsylvania law.

A second conviction of DUI with a BAC of 0.16 percent or higher carries a mandatory 90 days to five years in prison, an 18-month license suspension and fines ranging from $1,500 to $10,000.
