Appraisal Due Soon for Wachovia Bank Building

Hatboro officials say the assessment should be in hand and ready to be acted on by the council's Sept. 26 meeting.

Hatboro officials are still awaiting an appraisal of the borough-owned .

Borough Manager Steven Plaugher said the appraisal, which the council last month authorized Craig W. Gleason to undertake at a rate of $2,500, should be in hand within a week or two.

“Once received, council will meet in executive session and discuss the report,” Plaugher wrote in an e-mail to Patch. “At the same time, council may select a realtor to market the property.”

Plaugher said both could happen during the council’s next meeting on Sept. 26.

To date, Plaugher said he’s heard back from one or two of the five realtors he sent request for proposals to. “One of the key players is interested,” Plaugher said during Monday night’s borough council meeting.

Meanwhile, as the council continues with its to sell the 26,702-square-foot former bank building, officials are moving forward with improvements to the bank parking lot. The council will consider a $275 change order at its Sept. 26 meeting for the installation of gator bags, which, according to borough engineer James Dougherty, are used to help water trees.
