Two Seriously Injured in Horsham Crash

One of the victims was flown via helicopter to the hospital.

A serious two-vehicle crash at Bethlehem Pike (Route 309) and the entrance to the Gwynedd Crossing Shopping Center sent two people to the hospital with "serious" injures Wednesday night, police said. One of the drivers was taken via medivac helicopter to the hospital for treatment. The other driver was taken by ambulance, Horsham police told Patch. The driver of one of the vehicles, a black four-door BMW sedan, had to be extricated by the Horsham Fire Company. The other vehicle, a Chevy SUV, suffered heavy front end damage. Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation. The investigation is being complicated by the fact that the two drivers, who were the only people occupying the vehicles, were taken to the hospital and have not yet spoken with investigators, a police officer said. Around 7:30 p.m., Horsham Fire Company members set up a landing zone for the helicopter just yards away from the accident in the parking lot of the AMC 309 Cinema. The wreck happened shortly after 7 p.m., and disrupted traffic until after 9 p.m., according to county dispatch. Horsham Police were assisted by officers from nearby Lower Gwynedd and Montgomery Township.
