Police Investigating Crash into Hatboro Home

'Excessive speed' is believed to have played a role in a Sunday morning crash.

"Excessive speed" is believed to have caused a Sunday morning crash that caused a 2007 Dodge Intrepid to drive into a South York Road home.

No major injuries resulted from the crash, which occurred at about 8:15 a.m. at 505 South York Road in Hatboro, Police Chief James Gardner said.

The driver, a 21-year-old from Philadelphia, was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital for what Gardner said appeared to be minor injuries. The man had been traveling northbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck the home, Gardner said.

No one was injured within the residence, according to Gardner.

The car struck the home's front picture window and caused damage to the structure around the living room, Gardner said.

As a result, Horsham Fire Marshal George Fida said he responded to determine if the building, after being hit, was structurally sound. Fida said the damage did not pose any threats of collapse.

The investigation is continuing and the driver could be cited as a result of the crash, the chief said.
