Motorcyclist Injured in Hatboro Crash Dies

Andrew Karner, 27, of Jamison, was critically injured in the crash. He died Tuesday of his injuries, police said.

A man whose motorcycle was rear ended by a car near North York Road and East Monument Avenue has died, police said. 

Hatboro police were notified Tuesday afternoon that Andrew Karner, 27, of Jamison, died at Abington Memorial Hospital, according to Police Chief James E. Gardner. 

An autopsy by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office will determine the exact cause and manner of of Karner's death, Gardner said.

The crash happened about 1:15 a.m. Sunday. Karner was stopped in the northbound lane of North York Road when a northbound vehicle operated by 44-year-old James Haitsch of Warminster rear-ended his motorcycle, police said. 

Karner was critically injured in the crash, police said.

Just prior to the crash, Karner had stopped his motorcycle in the northbound lane and was approached by an unidentified woman wearing a pink shirt and carrying a large handbag, who was walking north on York Road.  

Police want to speak to the woman, who left before police arrived. Anyone who witnessed the crash or knows the woman's identity is asked to call Hatboro police at 215-675-2832.
