Police Seeking Witness in Crash That Critically Injured Motorcyclist

Andrew Karners, 27, was seriously injured when his motorcycle was rear-ended by another vehicle. Police are looking for a female witness who left before they arrived.

Hatboro police are looking for a female witness to a crash between a car and motorcycle that left one man in critical condition. 

The crash happened about 1:15 a.m. Sunday near North York Road and East Monument Avenue, police said.

A motorcycle operated by Andrew Karner, 27, of Jamison, PA, was stopped in the northbound lane of North York Road when a northbound vehicle operated by 44-year-old James Haitsch of Warminster rear-ended the motorcycle, according to Police Chief James E. Gardner.  

Just prior to the crash, Karner had stopped his motorcycle in his lane of travel and was approached by an unidentified woman wearing a pink shirt and carrying a large handbag, who was walking north on York Road.

Karner was transported by ambulance to Abington Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon, Gardner said.  

Police want to speak to the woman, who left before police arrived. Anyone who witnessed the crash or knows the woman's identity is asked to call Hatboro police at 215-675-2832.

Hatboro police were assisted at the scene by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau, Second Alarmers Rescue Association and Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro.  

York Road remained closed for several hours following the crash.
