Man Accused of Horsham Home Invasion Calls Judge 'Insane'

Ayodele Gabriel Oke is awaiting trial in connection with an armed robbery of a former Hatboro-Horsham classmate.

An area man awaiting trial for an referred to a Montgomery County judge as "insane," The Times Herald reports.

Ayodele Gabriel Oke, 22, whose last known address was on Horsham Road in Hatboro, is accused of robbing former classmate Shawn Schwarz at gunpoint on April 3. During a in May, Schwarz, who appeared to be still shaken by the ordeal, said he could not positively identify Oke as the suspect.

“When he was pointing the gun at me I wasn’t looking at him completely,” Schwarz said at the time. “I really thought I was about to die.”

determined there was enough evidence for the case to advance to trial. On Wednesday, Oke, who The Times Herald reports had expressed an interest in representing himself, unleashed a tirade at Montgomery County Judge Joseph A. Smyth after Smyth suggested Oke should undergo a mental health evaluation.

“You’ve literally lost your mind. You’re insane, sir. You need psychological treatment,” The Times Herald quoted Oke as saying to Smyth on Wednesday. “I’m going to sue you. This is fraud. You’re aiding and abetting the district attorney’s office in domestic terrorism.”

Oke, who remains free on bail provided he follows the judge's directive, is scheduled for trial on Jan. 24.
