A 51-year-old Horsham man is behind bars as he awaits court proceedings stemming from his alleged crash and subsequent hit and run.
Joseph Mark Siplak, was arrested on Thursday and charged with DUI, hit and run, a DUI-related driving while under suspension offense, driving without car insurance, and other traffic offenses.
Siplak was involved in a vehicle crash in the parking lot of Acme, located in the 200 block of Blair Mill Road on Jan. 27, according to police.
Witnesses reported that Siplak appeared confused, repeatedly turned his car off and on, and eventually left the scene only to crash his car again. When officers arrived at the crash scene, they found Siplak being attended to by ambulance personnel.
Siplak’s driver’s license was found to be suspended for a prior DUI offense, and his vehicle registration was found to be suspended for insurance cancellation. While at the hospital, officers observed Siplak exhibiting signs of intoxication. A chemical test of his blood showed the presence of a controlled substance at a level that would cause impairment, according to police.
Siplak failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing, so a warrant was issued for his arrest. The Pennsylvania State Police located Siplak in King of Prussia on Thursday and returned him to Horsham Township. Siplak was arraigned before a district magistrate, and currently waits at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility for his next court hearing.
