Heavy Rains Hit Region

Hatboro and Horsham avoid brunt of Friday's storm.

Hatboro and Horsham missed the worst of Friday night's storm, which stayed just south of the area and battered Upper Moreland Township, according to Willow Grove Fire Company Chief Lee Perlmutter.

The line of storms, which brought lightning, thunder and hail, did bring enough rain to put the Pennypack Creek within feet of spilling it's banks in Hatboro.

"It's quite the sight to see," said Mary Schnur, of Chalfont, who pulled in the parking lot of the Old Mill Inn to catch a glimpse of the swollen creek.
