Stolen Beer, Pawned Jewelry Reported to Hatboro Police

A $30 case of beer and business flashlights were among the items reported stolen from residences and a commercial business.

Criminal trespass/disorderly conduct

William R. Smith Jr., 37, no fixed address, but formerly from Bushkill, was arrested on Nov. 7, at 2:17 p.m. and cited for criminal tresspass and disorderly conduct. Officers investigated reports of a suspicious subject seen loitering around an apartment complex and pulling on doors in the 100 block of E. Moreland Avenue. Smith was located and, according to police, could not provide a legitimate reason for being in the complex.

Theft

  • Sometime overnight between Nov. 5 and Nov. 6, someone stole two large air-conditioning units from the exterior of a commercial business in the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue. An estimate of the financial loss from this incident is not available. 
  • Sometime overnight between Oct. 31, and Nov. 1, someone stole a case of Landshark beer from the porch of a home in the 300 block of Tanner Avenue. The case of beer cost approximately $30.

Criminal mischief

Sometime overnight between Oct. 30, and Oct. 31, someone scratched the entire driver’s side of a 2001 Dodge van that was parked in the 200 block of N. Penn Street. The vehicle was “keyed” in a zig-zag pattern causing considerable damage to the paint. It is expected to cost at least $1,000 to repair the damaged paint, police said.

Burglary (commercial)

On Oct. 29 officers investigated a burglary that occurred overnight in a commercial/industrial building in the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue. Investigation revealed the actors entered the business by kicking in a door. Once inside, they committed numerous acts of criminal mischief such as breaking equipment and discharging fire extinguishers. They also stole a small amount of property such as business flashlights and computer equipment. Investigation led police to two Hatboro boys, ages 14 and 15. Police said the suspects admitted their involvement during questioning and the stolen property was recovered at their homes. As a result, both are facing juvenile petitions for burglary and related offenses.

Driving Under the Influence

Heather L. Cooper, 22, of Abington was arrested on Oct. 29, at 2:25 a.m. and charged with Driving Under the Influence and related traffic offenses when she was stopped by a patrol officer on Horsham Road near York Road for operating a vehicle with an expired registration.

Theft (from residence)

A 17-year-old Hatboro boy is facing a juvenile petition for theft and related offenses for allegedly stealing what police described as a large quantity of his mother's jewelry and selling it to an area pawn shop.

Officers investigated the theft from the East Moreland Avenue residence on Oct. 27. Investigation led to the recovery of all the jewelry from a local pawn shop, police said.
