Burglaries, stolen firearm and theft of two tires among the reports made to Hatboro Police.

Burglary

  • On Friday at 7:32 p.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at an apartment building on South York Road near Moreland Avenue. As a result of the investigation, James Francis Howard IV, 33, of Hatboro, was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, and criminal mischief. He was arraigned before and was incarcerated at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility when he failed to post the $10,000/cash bail.
  • On Sept. 12, sometime between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., someone burglarized a residence in the 200 block of Wood Street. The actor gained entry to the home by pushing out a window mounted air- conditioner. Once inside the home they stole jewelry from a bedroom. The total financial loss from this incident is not currently available.

Theft (firearm)

On Thursday, the owner of a commercial business in the 100 block of South York Road reported a Taurus Millenium .40 caliber semiautomatic pistol and holster were stolen from the shop sometime between Sept. 17 and Sept. 19. The firearm has an estimated replacement cost of $450.

Criminal mischief/theft

On Wednesday between 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., someone slashed two tires and stole the remaining two wheels from a 2006 Toyota Highlander that was parked in the 20 block of South Penn Street. The total financial loss from the incident is estimated at approximately $900.

Public drunkenness/disorderly conduct

  • Howard H. McConnell III, 59, of Hatboro, was arrested and cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct on Sept. 19 at 4:33 p.m.,  after police said he urinated in a parking lot in view of numerous onlookers then caused a disturbance by screaming and yelling at people.
  • Albert E. Wilbur III, 61, of Hatboro, was arrested and cited on Sept. 17 at 3:50 p.m. for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after officers responded to a disturbance at the store on North York Road. Police said Wilbur was intoxicated and caused a disturbance by arguing with store staff, then refused to leave when they would not sell him more alcohol.
  • James F. Smyth IV, 40, of Bensalem, was arrested and cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct on Sept. 11 at 2:13 a.m., after officers responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of Jacksonville Road. 

Underage drinking

On Sept. 16 at 10:07 p.m., two 16-year-old Hatboro girls and one 17- year-old Hatboro boy were cited for underage drinking when officers investigated reports of suspicious persons near a footbridge off Earl Lane.

Criminal mischief

Sometime between Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, someone damaged a 1997 Ford F250 truck that was parked in the 100 block of Earl Lane when they painted yellow and red streaks down its passenger side. The estimated cost to remove the paint was approximately $100.

Theft (bicycle)

Sometime between Sept. 14 and Sept. 15, someone stole a 24” girl’s Schwinn Ranger bicycle from a rear yard of a home in the 300 block of Crooked Billet Road. The stolen bicycle cost $179 when it was purchased new.

Retail theft

Mohamed Elgharrafi, 41, of Wyncote, was arrested on Sept. 14 at 12:44 p.m. and charged with retail theft and released from custody.

Officers investigated a theft incident that was captured on surveillance video at a retail store on East Moreland Avenue near York Road.  Investigation revealed Elgharrafi allegedly walked out of the store with a DVD player without paying for it. Approximately 15 minutes later, the suspect was located at another retail store nearby and was taken into custody. The DVD player was not recovered during the investigation.

Attempted burglary (residential)

Sometime between 11:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sept. 12, someone attempted to burglarize a home in the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue.  Investigation revealed the actor stood on a trash can and pushed up a window screen on the home. Nothing was found missing inside and it appears the suspect did not enter and may have fled due to dogs that were inside.

Criminal trespass

Aaron A. Park, 22, of Philadelphia, and Donald L. Averett, 30, of Philadelphia, were both cited on Sept. 12 at 11:13 a.m. for criminal trespass when they were found trespassing on the posted property of the on Horsham Road at York Road.
