More thefts from unlocked cars - including a handgun - reported.

Hatboro Police are again warning residents to lock their cars and remove expensive items - as the latest thefts from unlocked vehicles include a handgun. 

The Beretta Bobcat .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun was stolen from a vehicle parked on Shirley Road overnight sometime between Sept. 5 and Sept. 6, police said. Along with that theft, the vehicle's owner reported that a change holder containing about $40 was also taken. 

Sometime overnight between Sept. 4, and Sept. 5, someone entered an unlocked car on Barbara Road and stole a Nuvi GPS, Sirius Satellite radio, and a tobacco pouch with tobacco, police said. An estimate of the financial loss from the incident is not available.

Public drunkenness

  • Carol A. Sullivan-Smiley, 53, of Hatboro, was arrested on Saturday at 5:06 p.m. and was cited for public drunkenness when police said she was found intoxicated and lying in the street on E. Moreland Avenue at New Street.
  • Albert E. Wilbur, 61, of Hatboro, was arrested on Sept. 3 at 1:05 a.m. and cited for public drunkenness when police said he was found highly intoxicated and incoherent inside a vehicle in a parking lot in the 50 block of South Penn Street. Police said the vehicle had beer cans discarded inside it and outside it on the ground.

Sometime overnight between Friday and Saturday, someone spray painted obscene graffiti on a box truck parked at a commercial business in the 40 block of South York Road. The cost to remove the graffiti is estimated at approximately $300.

Borough ordinance

On Sept. 3 Scott L. Hopper, 32, of Hatboro, was cited under Hatboro's borough ordinance (dog running at large) and unlicensed dogs after officers investigated reports of a pitbull running loose in the area of Central Avenue and Lacey Street.

Theft 

On Sept. 1, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., someone stole a motorcycle helmet valued at $120 from a motorcycle that was parked in the 200 block of Jacksonville Road.

Harassment

On Sept. 1, at 4:41 p.m., Albert W. Schmider, 58, of Hatboro, was cited for harassment when he allegedly slapped another person in the face during a disturbance on Park Avenue.

Warrant service

On Sept. 1 at 9:33 a.m., Matthew R. Milligan, 23, of Hatboro, was arrested on a Montgomery County Adult Probation/Parole warrant when officers found him asleep in bed at his residence. He was released to the custody of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
