Scrap metal stolen and other thefts reported.

Theft/criminal mischief/resisting arrest

Ronald L. Oetzel, 22, of Roslyn, was arrested on Friday at 3:30 a.m. and charged with theft, criminal mischief and resisting arrest following an investigation that began in the 200 block of North Penn Street. 

Police said Oetzel came to a residence where he stole a phone from a woman then punched or kicked several dents in a car that was parked in the driveway before fleeing. His description was broadcast to surrounding departments while Hatboro units were still on scene gathering information.

A short time later, an assisting Upper Moreland police officer observed him walking in the 200 block of South York Road. He ran from the officer and briefly escaped until he was subsequently located and apprehended walking on Lehman Avenue near York Road. Oetzel was arraigned by District Justice Paul Leo of Hatboro and was released on $10,000 bail.

On Tuesday officers investigated a theft complaint in the 300 block of South York Road. Police said someone stole seven steel storm grates from the property. It is believed the grates were likely taken for their scrap value. The estimated cost to replace the grates is approximately $400.

Warrant service

Phillip B. Heinz Jr., 28, of Hatboro was arrested on July 24 at 5:45 p.m., on an active Bucks County bench warrant for a parole violation. Police found him in the 200 block of South Warminster Road. He was released to the custody of the Bucks County sheriff’s department.

Criminal mischief/theft, etc.

Richard E. Fisher, 34, who is said to be homeless, was arrested and cited on July 23 at 5:22 p.m. for criminal mischief when he was found tampering with a utility cable in the 300 block of South York Road.   He was cited and released from custody.

At 7:36 p.m., he was located in the 100 block of Academy Road attempting to hide three bundles of wire that he had allegedly cut and stolen from a utility pole following his release from the earlier incident. As a result, he was arrested and charged with theft, possessing an instrument of crime and criminal mischief. He was arraigned by District Justice Harry Nesbitt of Horsham and was incarcerated in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail.
