Police investigate several instances of credit card fraud and identity theft.

Driving Under the Influence

  • Kevin McCourt, 39, of Hatboro, was arrested on Feb. 20 at 1:46 a.m. and charged with Driving Under the Influence when officers investigated a noise complaint involving a vehicle playing loud music on James Road near York Road.
  • John D. Hebling, 48, of Warminster, was arrested on Feb. 15 at 4:43 p.m. and charged with Driving Under the Influence and related traffic offenses when he was stopped on York Road near Madison Avenue for allegedly speeding and weaving across lanes.

Theft/credit fraud

Sometime overnight between Feb. 18 and Feb. 19, someone entered a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Springdale Avenue and stole two iPod Touch devices and a wallet containing various credit cards and gift cards. The credit cards were then used to make purchases at a nearby store. It is unknown if the vehicle was locked when the theft occurred. The investigation is ongoing.

Theft

  • On Feb. 18, a resident in the 400 block of Springdale Avenue reported someone stole the state inspection and emission stickers from the windshield of his vehicle. The stickers cost $2 each to replace.
  • On Feb. 16, between 11:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m., someone entered an unlocked car parked in the 50 block of South Penn Street and stole a cell phone. The phone was a pre-paid type and the financial loss is approximately $30.

Burglary

  • On Feb. 17, officers investigated a burglary in an apartment complex in the 500 block of North York Road. Investigation revealed someone forced entry to a secure storage unit and stole a gas can, two leaf blowers, and an electronic game system. An estimate of the financial loss from this incident is not available.
  • Matthew C. Kehoe, 30, of Hatboro, was arrested on Feb. 6 at 1:22 p.m. and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief when he was apprehended inside a home in the 500 block of Continental Road that he was previously evicted from.  He was arraigned by District Justice Paul Leo and was incarcerated at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail.

Credit fraud 

  • On Feb. 14, a resident in the 400 block of Harrison Avenue reported someone fraudulently accessed their checking account using their wife’s debit card on Feb. 10. A total of $990.50 was lost due to the unauthorized transactions. 
  • On Feb. 13, a resident of the 500 block of Continental Road reported someone fraudulently accessed his checking account from an ATM three times at a Wawa in Bensalem. The account was emptied of its $960. 

Identity theft

On Feb. 14, a resident in the 400 block of Madison Avenue reported being the victim of identity theft. The victim discovered their identity and social security number had been compromised when they attempted to file their tax returns.  The matter is being looked into by the IRS and Social Security Administration.

Disorderly conduct/public drunkenness

Carl J. Nesfeder Jr., 49, of Hatboro, and Edward W. Thron Jr., 46, of Hatboro, were both arrested on Feb. 11 at 4:26 p.m. and charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after officers responded to a “fight in progress” at a commercial business on East Moreland Avenue near York Road.  

Harassment

Dennis O’Donnell, 56, of Lansdale, was arrested on Feb. 5 and was charged via summons with multiple counts of harassment after police said he repeatedly called a Hatboro woman after being warned by the police to stop contacting her.

Criminal trespass

Matthew C. Kehoe, 30, of Hatboro, was arrested on Feb. 3 at 3:02 p.m. and cited for criminal trespass after he returned to a home on Continental Road he had been evicted from with instructions not to return.

Warrant service/fugitive

The Hatboro Police investigated a report that a wanted person just fled a home on foot in the 400 block of Jacksonville Road on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. after a news story regarding him aired on the television. The subject, Kevin P. Knapp, 38, of East Lansdowne, was wanted by the Upper Darby Police Department for attempted murder. With the assistance of the Upper Moreland and s, as well as a K9 officer from Montgomery Township, a thorough search was conducted. He was eventually located and apprehend on Heaton Road. He was released to the custody of Upper Darby Police detectives.
