Hatboro Police Arrest Alleged Burdick's Robber

The 73-year-old man awaits a preliminary hearing next week.

A Hatboro man is behind bars in connection with the Jan. 27 of . 

Suliman Ali, 73, whose last known address was Hunters Way in Hatboro, was arrested Friday in Coatesville in Chester County by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and Coatesville Police Department. Ali was then turned over to the , where he was charged with robbery; theft by unlawful taking or disposition; theft by extortion; receiving stolen property; terroristic threats; simple assault; recklessly endangering another person; persons not to possess firearms; and carrying a firearm without a license.

Ali, who police allege escaped the scene of the crime by bicycle on a Friday in January around lunch time, is accused of robbing Burdick's at gunpoint and forcing three workers and a customer to the rear of the store during the incident.

He was arraigned by District Judge Paul N. Leo of Hatboro on Friday and was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 27 before Judge Leo.

Ali is also wanted for a parole violation in New Jersey, police said. 

Hatboro Police obtained an arrest warrant for Ali based on evidence obtained after the robbery, as well as evidence recovered during the execution of a search warrant at Ali’s Hunters Way residence on Jan. 30.
