Hatboro Man Wanted for Jewelry Store Theft

Police say Daniel Cairns stole a $5,500 diamond ring from Helzberg Diamonds

Local police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Hatboro man suspected of swiping a diamond ring valued at $5,500 from the Helzberg Diamonds store in Abington.

Police said Daniel Cairns, 37, of 19 Woodland Ave., is aware that he is wanted and should be considered dangerous. 

On Monday, Cairns allegedly snatched the ring from a clerk at the jewelry store, which is located on Moreland Road, near the Willow Grove Park Mall.

Witnesses informed Upper Moreland police that they observed a suspicious male run to a green Jeep Wrangler and rapidly flee the area. The police department's automated license plate reader was checked to see if a green Jeep Wrangler had been observed in the area.

A vehicle fitting the description was captured by the license plate reader and an investigation conducted by the Abington Township Police Department successfully identified Cairns as the suspected diamond thief.
