Fatal Pedestrian Crash Under Investigation

Authorities are seeking witnesses of a Monday morning crash that claimed the life of a Hatboro pedestrian.

Authorities are investigating a fatal vehicle crash involving two pedestrians early Monday morning in Hatboro. 

The 12:17 a.m. crash occurred near North York Road and Hunters Way, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said in a press release. 

The pedestrians, identified as Mable Cruz and Francisca Polanco, both of Hatboro, appear to have been walking in the northbound lane of York Road when a northbound passenger vehicle driven by an adult male, struck both women, according to authorities. The driver remained on scene after the accident and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Polanco was pronounced dead at the scene. Cruz was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital where she is listed in critical condition. 

The crash is under investigation by the Hatboro Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office, County Detective Bureau.  Investigators will be conducting accident reconstruction and forensic testing.

Investigators were assisted on scene by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau, Second Alarmers Rescue Squad and Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro. York Road remained closed for several hours following the crash.
