Body of Horsham Man Washes Ashore

The body of a 54-year-old Horsham man was recovered roughly 20 blocks south of where while treading in knee-deep water at the Jersey shore Friday, according to Shore News Today.

The owner of father-son business on Easton Road in Horsham, Brad Smith's body washed ashore at approximately 1:15 a.m. Monday and he was declared dead about an hour later, according to the report. 

Smith and another man were walking with their daughters in knee-deep water in North Wildwood late Friday afternoon when they were said to have fallen into a drop in the sand.

ABC reports that the four were pulled out to sea by the undertow, though the other man and his daughter were able to make their way back to shore. A man on a personal watercraft rescued Smith's 7-year-old daughter. Searches continued through Saturday at 3 p.m. for Smith. 

Dozens of comments from Smith's friends, family and work colleagues poured in after Patch . 

"Devastated by your loss. Brad was not only a great husband and father, he was also a great friend and business associate," wrote Dave Hoffman. "Feeling your pain."

Kathryn Cahoon, a customer of Smith's, had this to say:

"Brad and I were just talking last week when he changed my oil about another person and how life is so unfair to good people," she wrote on Patch. "It's hard for me to grasp that this has happened to him and his family."

Although the news was devastating to Smith's family, his son-in-law, Jared, shared, "We can at least make some closure."
