Blaze Renders Horsham Home Unlivable

Fire marshal says iPod charger may have been culprit

A combination of fire, smoke, heat and water damage from a Saturday afternoon blaze has made a single family home uninhabitable, according to Horsham Fire Co. Chief Tim Flanagan.

The fire, which broke out at about 1 p.m. on Latchstring Lane, just off of Maple Avenue, was confined to the first floor, Flanagan said Sunday. It was brought under control in 20 minutes, he said, adding, "thankfully there were no injuries."

Horsham Fire Marshal George Fida said Sunday that the fire started in the bedroom, at or near the electrical outlet. Fida said an iPod charger, which may have overheated or shorted, was the possible cause. Fida said there had been a recall on some iPod chargers.
