2 Hatboro Men Charged in Knifepoint Robbery

A meeting to smoke marijuana turned into a violent robbery, according to Upper Moreland Police.

Two people arranged to meet up with an acquaintance to smoke marijuana at Village Green Apartments, but instead were beaten and robbed at knifepoint, according to Upper Moreland Police.

Matthew Curran, 19, of Hatboro, Carl Sauter, 19, of Hatboro and Joseph Grady, 24, of Bensalem, were arrested and charged with robbery, assault, theft, and related charges stemming from the June 14 robbery.

Police responded to the apartment complex's parking lot at 503 S. Warminster Road on 1:18 p.m. on June 14 to investigate the report of a robbery. Police spoke to two victims, including a man who had a swollen eye and blood on his face.  

One of the victims told police that they had arranged to meet an acquaintance in the Village Green Apartments to smoke marijuana. Once they met with the friend and an unknown man, they were suddenly and violently attacked, according to police.

Both victims had knives held to their throats and were ordered to empty their pockets. One of the victims was punched repeatedly in the head and face by two men, including a third man that appeared on scene after the initial assault took place, police said.  

Wallets, car keys and cigarettes were stolen during the robbery, according to police.

Curran, Sauter, and Grady are being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for next month.
