Security personnel saw Melton, Darnell and a third unidentified man enter the grocery store, according to police. Security recognized the trio from surveillance video they had observed from other Giant stores that recently suffered thefts from the passing of bad checks for gift cards, according to police.

Security stopped Melton and Darnell, but the third person ran away, police said. Both Melton and Darnell were remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility to await further court proceedings.
