Resident Input on Eaton Park? Not.

While the Republican Candidates for Hatboro Council (Zygmont, Thompkins, Harbaugh, Palmer, Hawkes) are all saying that they're committed to resident input on the expansion of public facilities (public works, police station, etc.), here's the reality. The committee residents serve on is called: the Eaton Park Annex Committee. Despite the fact that residents have been loud and clear that they oppose the park location due to quality of life and flooding issues, residents were told in the first five minutes of the meeting: This is the Eaton Park Annex Committee, WE WILL NOT DISCUSS OTHER SITES, we will not tell you what the financing plan is, we will not give you an estimate of the cost for this one building nor the entire project, the maps you are looking at are drawn not to scale, and no, we are not looking at the floodplain lines. The one participating member of the Hatboro Planning Committee cannot seem to remember how large the buffer zones for floodplains need to be. Council Members, staff, and Republican Candidates , Sheedy, Rich, Hegele, Zollers, and Palmer, outnumber the residents and work together to stop discussion of alternative sites. This is not inclusion of resident input, it is a sham and yet another example of the Republican Council's commitment to SILENCE public opinion.
