Funeral Service Set for R. Evelyn Carpenter, Hatboro Library Volunteer

R. Evelyn Carpenter died on July 20 at Abington Memorial Hospital.

She was the beloved wife for 50 years of the late Robert M. Carpenter.

Born in Philadelphia in 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ruth (Kerr) and Matthew Shaw Prince. She is survived by her two daughters Ruthellen C. Zieber (Allen G.) of Hampton, Va .and Laura C. Powell (Mark T.) of Willow Grove; one grandson, Robert A. Zieber (Gina) of Williamsburg, Va.; and two great-grandchildren. 

Carpenter was a graduate of Abington Senior High class of 1941 and Osteopathic Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia in 1944.

A long-time employee of Abington Memorial Hospital, she served as a Med-Surg nurse and Head Nurse and IV Team.

Carpenter was also a member of the Horsham Monthly Meeting of Friends.
She was a Tuesday volunteer at the Union Library of Hatboro and also was a member of the review club of Montgomery County and past president of the Neighbors of Hatboro. 

Carpenter loved to read and was one of the summer bridge ladies at the Hatboro Memorial Pool.

Relatives and friends will be received by her family on Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon, with Carpenter's Memorial Service beginning at noon in Horsham Meeting, Easton and Meetinghouse roads in Horsham.

Her interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carpenter's memory may be made to Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E. Ridge Pike, PO Box 222, Conshohocken, PA 19428-0222
