Happy Halloween/"Scary" Video
It’s the curse of an active life, I suppose: I’ve been too busy these past few weekends to write a proper essay, and too bushed by the time I get home from work to write one during the week. But I couldn’t let the Halloween season escape without sharing something, so…
Here’s a scary trailer I created in iMovie.
And another supernatural-themed one, also created in iMovie.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, iMovie is the video editor that comes standard on every Mac, and is available as a free download for the new iPhones and iPads. (Those of us with legacy products have to cough up $4.99.) The Mac version is, in a word, basic - it pales in comparison to my 2009-era Sony Movie Studio software, which I run on my desktop Windows PC. And the iPhone version, like its computer cousin, is sufficient for simple editing, little else. About the only saving grace of both - to my way of thinking, at any rate - is the “trailer” function, which I used to create the above videos. You pick the clips you want, drop them into a template and, presto, you have a minute-and-change movie trailer that you might see in a theater… or not. (I filtered the "scary" one through another iPhone app called CinemaFX. It's what gives it that old-time look.)
Anyway, Happy Halloween!
