The 5th Annual Lemon Bowl

According
to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) every year about 263,000 new
cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 worldwide.  One of these children was Alexandra “Alex”
Scott who decided to hold a lemonade stand to raise money and help doctors in
their efforts to cure childhood cancer.  Although
Alex lost her battle with cancer, her parents have continued her legacy known
today as “Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.”

Because childhood cancer
research is vastly and consistently underfunded, members of the local community
joined together to create The Lemon Bowl Flag Football Tournament which
supports ALSF as a unique way for individuals and organizations to help the
fight against childhood cancer.  In 2012
The Lemon Bowl was recognized by Alex’s Lemonade Stand as a top 100
fundraiser.  On Saturday, October 26, 24 teams
consisting of 10-15 members per team will take their relatively healthy bodies
to the gridiron to raise money for ALSF.
Jay Scott, father of Alex Scott will be one of these participants along
with about six other families whose children are battling or lost the battle to
cancer.
