Who's Hatboro-Horsham's Person of the Year?

TIME magazine named President Obama its person of the year for the second time. Tell us who you think should win from Hatboro or Horsham.

On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Obama its Person of the Year, again.

The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including the president, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, and Apple CEO Tim Cook. But, the president took the title again four years after he first won the award as president-elect in 2008.

But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Hatboro or Horsham's Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse”?

Tell us your pick in the comment section below.

Good choice Mike. He married my nephew and neice in a cerimony in Doylestown many years ago. I had a chance to talk with him, and he would remember that every time I went by the music store, or bumped into him in town.

Absolutely. Joe Celano was a gracious gentleman to the very end.

I think it should be all of the volunteer first responders. They are always on call never paid for their services and are always expected to be there when there is an emergency. My vote goes to those members of Hatboro and Horsham volinteer fire fighters and rescue personnel.

I think it should be all the educators in the HH school district. When was the last time you said Thank you to a teacher? How about a middle or high school teacher?

Bobby Taggart a 14 year old kid who battled Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Fought through 5 surgerys and 9 months of chemo.

I nominate John Becker. His unselfish actions brought to light the clear and present dangers that existed at the police evidence room. By bringing attention to lax procedures and nonexistent supervision by the incompetent chief we can all sleep easier.

Everytime we sign their paycheck.

Joe Celano - with Bobby Taggart a close second.

I think Will Smith who cleans the parking lot at WaWa every day to make sure the litter is cleaned it. Or Wesly Croak from Hatboro public works for the timely trash removal and recycle pick ups. Or Steve Frate, owner of Silvio's deli for being one of the most authentic Philly style lunch spot and offering up good converation of the Eagles, Flyers, or Phillies. How about Dan from Dempsters who fixes cars ~ honestly. How about Carol at Daddypops diner who's smiles and serves up the locals every morning... How about the man (never knew his name) who runs produce junction... because he keeps his costs low so people can keep fresh fruits and vegs in their house instead of junk foods. How about the operations manager at Impact for using his best recycle business to fund shelters and other less fortunate people. How about Hatboro Beverages... for sell responsibly. Feel free to add to the list of people....

How about a local business person who supports the schools, Betsy.

Joe Celano already had it before he retired... he's had it a few times.

Are you talking about the Chamber's Distinguished Citizens award at the Borough Ball? The Patch is relatively new, and recognizing Joe Celano as Hatboro's Person of the Year would be appropriate given that he recently passed away.

No. They seem to be performing a random poll, based on Time magazines selecting President Obama.
