Trash That Tree

Here are a few options for disposing of your Christmas tree.

Now that Christmas is over, you might be ready to take down your tree. Toss it on the curb, recycle it or use it for landscaping.

Some towns have programs where you can drop off your tree to be turned in to chips for park walks. You can landscape with your tree brush by placing branches and needles under trees and shrubs to be used as winter mulch in your lawn.

Before placing a Christmas tree outside, be sure to remove all decorations first. Lights, garland, tinsel and all metal should be removed from the branches. Be sure to never use tree remnants in a fireplace or wood stove, as suggested by the National Christmas Tree Association.
