PHOTOS: Medieval Festival Returns to Glencairn

The Middle Ages came to life Sunday at Glencairn Museum's annual festival.

Swords and chain mail, flowing costumes and ink-stained leather brought the Middle Ages to life Sunday at Glencairn Museum.

The museum's annual Medieval Festival drew hundreds to the castle in Bryn Athyn, which houses a museum collection dedicated to the history of religion.

Volunteers dressed in period costumes directed visitors around the castle and demonstrated the medieval arts of stained-glass painting and manuscript illumination. Others presented demonstrations of medieval musical instruments and weaponry as well as the workings of a Gutenberg-style printing press.
