Get Out Weekend Planner

Tri-Centennial events around the area, fun in the park and a chance to experience different cultures.

There are so many things happening this weekend we are wondering how anyone will be able to fit it all in. The Willow Grove Tri-Centennial celebration is holding several local events. Southampton's Tamanend Park will be hopping with events this weekend, and Warminster is also having an event as part of Warminster’s 300-year celebration. Oh yeah, we can't forget the in Horsham.

Wings of Freedom Aviation Museum Open House and Tour

Where/When: , 1155 Easton Road, Horsham, Friday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Why Go: The open house is part of Willow Grove's 300th anniversary celebration.

Hands-on activities will be offered and visitors and learn about the area's rich aviation history and so much more. Tickets are on sale at the museum's gift shop.

Pricing: $10/person, children 12 and under are free.

Willow Grove Tri-Centennial Events  

1. Willow Grove 300 Celebration Community Day –Saturday 11am - ?

Family events, free entertainment, food vendors, craft fair, free food, dog show and more. Fun fun, fun!

2.  The Willow Grove Lions Club 31st Annual Car Show and Flea Market. Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

 Show open to stock cars, trucks, street rods, customs, street machines, pro-street vehicles, and motorcycles.

 The above events are taking place at the Upper Moreland Middle School – Orangeman Road.

3. Walking Tour of Willow Grove - 117 Park Ave, Willow Grove at the Upper Moreland Township Building. Saturday 10 a.m.

The Upper Moreland Trail of History is a self-guided tour of some of the historic building/sites that figured prominently in  the history and development of Upper Moreland and Willow Grove. The walking tour will be hosted by the Girl Scout District of Eastern Pennsylvania.

4. Boileau Farm Festival- 2668 Byberry Road. Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sheep and duck herding, small animals, Revolutionary re-enactors, colonial cooking, colonial crafts and games, barn tours, blacksmithing, wood joining (how the barn was built) free hot dogs and sodas, farm wagon rides, live music and free balloons.

Pricing: The four Willow Grove Tri-Centennial events listed above are free admission.

Events At Tamanend Park

Where/When: , 1255 Second Street Pike

Why Go: Three great events this weekend at Tamanend Park

1.Friends of Tamanend Park Flea Market. Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 Browse the vendor tables for some treasures, food, snacks and beverages will be on sale.

2. Art Show at Tamanend Park, Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Just Painters, a group of local artists, will be exhibiting many original paintings done in watercolors, oil, pastel and acrylic. The painting will also be for sale.

3. Tamanend Park Herb Club - Annual Herb Sale, Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Select from thousands of specimens, hand-crafted herbal craft items and lots of friendly help. In celebration of the group's 28th anniversary, unusual herbs will be featured.

Pricing: Free admission for all three events.

Rubber Ducky Regatta

Where/When: , 905 Valley Road, Warminster. Sunday 1 p.m.

Why Go: Hundreds of rubber duckies will float down the Neshaminy Creek to compete in a race to the finish line. Your duck(s) could win and you could receive prizes totaling $500.

Prior to the rubber ducky regatta, a family picnic will be held for all attendees. Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch and dessert will be supplied with help from Rita's Water Ice. Immediately following the regatta there will be a half-hour of family games and activities.

This is a Warminster Tri-Centennial Event.

Pricing:  $5 per ducky or five duckies for $20
You need not be present to win.

Culture Fest!

Where/When: , 899 Horsham Road, Horsham. Sunday noon to 3 p.m.

Why Go: You and your family will be treated to the sights, sounds, and flavors from the many cultures that make our world go round. Area restaurants will be selling tastes of their own special cuisine. Entertainers of varying ethnic backgrounds will charm you. Education stations and a variety of vendors will provide a sense of diversity and unity.

Pricing: Free admission.
