Cooler weather hasn’t stopped the rise in fuel prices; gas is up an average of 2 cents across the county and more than 8 cents locally, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.
As Gulf Coast refineries have successfully restarted production after Hurricane Isaac, prices in those states have dropped. Motorists in seven states: California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, New York, Oregon and Washington, however, continue to pay more than $4 a gallon.
In Montgomery and Bucks counties, the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is $3.898 per gallon, which is up 8.1 cents from a week ago, 24.5 cents higher than a month ago and 25.9 cents higher than a year ago.
