Carnival Comes to Parking Lot Near You

The latest edition of carnival food, rides, games and plenty of fun will be packed into an Upper Moreland parking lot beginning Tuesday evening.

The Benjamin Foods carnival gets underway Tuesday at 6 p.m. and continues through Saturday night. The food distributor’s parking lot, at 1001 S. York Road, in addition to housing cars, will also hold about 15 rides, various games and lots of food, according to Bill George.

George, of Hatboro, heads up Pennypack Entertainment, which last month put on Hatboro’s annual carnival and fireworks show. Many of the attractions used at the borough’s fair will be repurposed at the slightly smaller Upper Moreland carnival, which takes place on the outskirts of Hatboro.

“We’ll have stuff for the real little ones all the way up to adults,” George said.

For this year’s event, George said ticket prices have been lowered from $1 a ticket to 75 cents per ticket. Ride enthusiasts can get their fill Tuesday through Thursday with $20 wrist bands.

While family-friendly entertainment is the focus, George said food and tastings take front and center in the Benjamin Foods carnival. The five-day event serves to complement Benjamin Foods’ customer appreciation food show on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Last year an estimated 5,000 people attended the Benjamin Foods’ carnival, according to George.

“It’s pretty nice here because there’s plenty of parking and there’s plenty of room for the carnival,” he said.
