Verizon Service to Be Restored This Evening

Downed power lines and overheated equipment at the Verizon's central office in Hatboro caused customers throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties to lose voice and Internet service for most of Wednesday.

Verizon's private and business FiOS customers felt the effects of Tuesday night's wicked storm well into Wednesday, spending most of the day without phone and Internet service. According to Verizon Spokesman Lee Gierczynski, everything should be back to normal by 6 p.m.

Gierczynski said that the trouble started last night when a tree toppled over power lines outside the company's Hatboro office on Moreland Ave. The back-up generator kicked in immediately and maintained operations until it shut down at 6 a.m. Wednesday morning and disrupted service for customers throughout Bucks, route: {:controller=>"articles", :action=>"show", :id=>"911-system-experiancing-problems-across-bucks-county"} --> and
