Vacancy: 216 S. York Road

What would you like to see fill this empty building in the heart of Hatboro's downtown?

Tell us in the comments what you would like to see fill this vacancy.

Vacant: 216 S. York Road

Description: The building is situated in the heart of Hatboro's downtown shopping district.

Size: 1,000 square feet

Zoning: RC-2 (retail commercial district)

History: The building has been empty for a year and a half.

The Challenge: The site needs new flooring and a fresh coat of paint, according to Hatboro Main Street Manager Stephen Barth. "Prospective tenants have difficulty seeing past the condition of how it looks currently and to (what) it can become," he said.

Interest: Barth said he's shown the building to many prospects, including those interested in opening a health food shop, candy store, flower shop, computer store and medical offices.

Potential: The site offers great visibility along the main portion of Hatboro's downtown shopping district and adjoins the borough's municipal back parking lot.

Mr. Barth, I would hardly call that a hobby shop. They have some hobby supplies. I think Mr. Harting is referring to a store that sells only hobby supplies, trains, R/C, dollhouses, etc. The last one in the immediate area I can remember was JC Hobbies and R/C at the corner of York and Countyline (CVS there now). I believe Hatboro used to have a hobby shop owned by the Lutz's.
