John Deere Dealer Opens

The green and yellow trim outside the former home of all things Dodge can only mean one thing: The long-awaited John Deere dealership is open for business.

The family-owned business stocked its John Deere franchise with lawn mowers, tractors and more inside the newly renovated 335 S. York Road space and officially opened this week.

Store Manager Dan Tyrpak said a more formal grand opening is planned for spring.

"It's very seasonal," Tyrpak said of the business' busy times. "We do the bulk of our annual business in about four months of the year. Spring is the big time."

During the winter months, Tyrpak said the dealership will stay busy offering service specials and ramping up its stock.

"We don't have quite as deep an inventory," he said.

Temporary signs are in place until the zoning hearing board determines if larger than typically permitted signage is allowed. That meeting is set for Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at borough hall, 414 S. York Road.
