Horsham Pub to Open Monday

The newly renovated Horsham Pub, situated where Gavin's Tavern was previously located, features 24 TVs and seating for more than 300.

The interior is bright, the sandwiches "legendary" and two dozen TVs are sure to keep patrons' attention as they contemplate wings and beer at the newly renovated Horsham Pub.

Formerly Gavin's Tavern, the smoke-free "family pub" situated at 1144 Horsham Road in Horsham will open Monday at 4 p.m. Owner Joe Wade, who also owns the Pour House in Jamison and the Publick House in Wycombe, has spent the last eight weeks renovating and updating the facility, which seats more than 300 people.

"It needed to be freshened up," Wade said of the interior, which he described as a "little darker, a little smokier" before. "It's warm. It's inviting."

Wade, who has been in the "family pub" business for the last 10 to 12 years, said the Horsham Road establishment is somewhere people could come to have a drink with a friend and not be "embarrassed" to return at another time with their children or grandparents.

"We're not a sports bar," he said.

Besides offering more than 90 varieties of beer, Wade said his pulled pork sandwiches are "legendary." A variety of flatbreads, big salads and other sandwiches fill out the menu, he said.

In the works is a game room for kids (and big kids at heart), which Wade said will be complete by March 17.

Wade said he's "exploring" the possibility of breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings. Other offerings will include a trivia night, acoustic duos and perhaps a DJ, he said.

Based on his other sites' popularity, Wade said the pub's "sweet spot," will be with the 30 to 50 crowd.

"Hopefully we'll have a lot of success here," Wade said.
