Michelle Leach-Waters of Philadelphia received the 2013 Phyllis Abramson Licht (PAL) award. An Abramson Center employee of eight years, Leach-Waters was chosen for the award by Abramson Center residents, family members, and her co-workers in recognition of her kindness, uplifting demeanor and dependability, according to a press release.
The honor, which includes a cash gift and a luncheon held in the recipient’s honor, was established in 2004 by Dr. Licht to honor the memory of his late wife, Phyllis Abramson Licht, who appreciated the respectful care she received from healthcare workers as she faced terminal illness.
The award is presented each year to a nursing assistant who demonstrates excellence in providing compassionate and skilled care to Abramson Center for Jewish Life residents.
The nonprofit provider of services to seniors offers nursing care, personal care and independent living apartments, post-hospital transitional care, hospice, home care, adult day care, counseling and referral, as well as aging research.
