Hatboro to Host Art Show

The arts are coming to Hatboro, unpacking and sticking around until after the holidays. 

The Hatboro Holiday Art Show, which features eight artists and more than 40 pieces of original artwork in various formats, gets underway Friday evening with a wine and cheese reception.

The show’s host, Ron Hornberger, owner of Forever in Frames, 46 S. York Road in Hatboro, said the show is expected to continue through mid-January. Hornberger, who has owned the custom framing store for 25 years, said he is not sure if this first gallery of sorts will lead to future art shows.

"I can’t make any decisions along those lines until I see what this one does,” Hornberger told Patch. “It’s not really a question of how many people are going to turn out … you want to see how many pieces actually get sold.”

Organizer Stephen Barth, Hatboro’s Main Street manager, said all of the pieces – ranging from oil paintings, watercolors, photographs and scrap metal sculptures – are available for sale. 

“Many of the local pieces will make wonderful holiday gifts,” Barth said, adding that proceeds from his Hatboro photographs will be donated to the Bux-Mont Meals on Wheels, which .

Proceeds from the sale of Sullivan’s Scrap Metals sculptures will benefit ongoing upgrades at Tanner Park, Barth said. 

Barth, a proponent of expanding the borough’s cultural offerings, said the “growing art movement” in Hatboro would lead to regular art exhibitions and other artistic initiatives.
