Gas Prices 20 Cents Higher This Week

In the Montgomery and Bucks area, July ends with the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline at $3.625 per gallon, which is .6 cents lower than a week ago, but 21.6 cents higher than a month ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.

That is the largest increase for July in more than a dozen years. Drivers nationwide saw prices reverse in July after three months of steady declines at the pump. Higher global oil prices and increased demand for gasoline during the busy summer driving season were the primary factors that sent pump prices higher in July.

However, the local pump prices are still 17.3 cents lower than a year ago. And AAA predicts that gas prices for August likely will remain relatively flat through Labor Day.

Locally, the best price for regular is $3.51 at the Exxon in Hatboro.
