Cheshire Nursery School Wins Readers' Choice Poll

Nearly 3,000 residents voted this week for their favorite preschool in Cheshire.

Voting was steady and strong this week for the "Readers' Choice" poll on the best preschool Cheshire.

With 1,109 votes, won the poll closely followed by 1st Church Daycare and Nursery in second place with 955 votes. The Scooter School received 25 percent of the total for 745 votes.

Here's what parents had to say about Cheshire Nursery School:

: "...the only clear choice was Cheshire nursery. Its amazing with a very low student teacher ratio. Couldn't go anywhere else."

: "Our vote is CNS! We liked the small classes and the knowledgeable teachers at CNS. ... The curriculum is made to challenge its 'students' not just babysit them."

Here are responses for

: "... a well balanced curriculum with great hands-on opportunities for learning both inside and out. Teachers hold degrees and have been there for many years..."

"... The moment I walked into First Church, I knew it was the right place for her! It is a home away from home. The best choice in town!"

Here are the comments from parents:

"... Mrs Jac and all the other teachers make my kids feel like family! It is such a comfort to know that when they are at school-there is no other place they would rather be!!"

"... It's been many years since my youngest was there and yet I still get warm and fuzzies every time I drive by it. What a wonderful place. A true gem."

When the voting picked up as the week progressed, this comment was written on Wednesday by CNS Administrative Director Suzanne M. Miller:

"Cheshire Nursery School has only 16 (well-loved) children per session, so we may just have to be content with a strong showing in this poll."

As it turned out, the small, family-friendly preschool rose to the top through the responses of dedicated and supportive parents and family members.

Congratulations to Cheshire Nursery School!

This just goes to show what an amazing family-centered town Cheshire really is! And while the poll was a competition, these preschools work cooperatively to enhance the connection between the town's preschools and the public schools. The goal is to make sure every child has the most meaningful educational experience possible. That makes everyone in Cheshire a winner!

My Mom, Aidamae Fowler, along with Jane Harper, taught at Cheshire Nursery School for many years. She would be thrilled by these results!

Agreed, Faith! My mother, too (Joy Irish) taught at Cheshire Nursery School and my sisters attended. So happy to see the school is still as warm and wonderful, as ever!
