How To Recycle Drugs

Patch users across the Philadelphia area have shown increasing interest in how to recycle or safely dispose of any number of household items. So we've put together a series of resources for you and your neighbors, including locations in Hatboro-Horsham Patch and nearby. Why Recycle Prescription Drugs?

While there are some prescription drugs that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says are safe to flush down the toilet, the FDA says that take-back programs are best because they reduce the chance that others may accidentally take the medicine and reduce the trace amounts of medicine in the country’s water system.

How to Recycle Drugs:

The FDA says the best way to dispose of expired or unwanted prescription or over-the-counter drugs is to take them to a take-back event.

On April 28, in conjunction with the National Take Back Initiative, the , 314 Horsham Road in Horsham, will host a drug take back collection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for more details.

County and municipal governments also hold occasional take-back events. Check with your municipality or county to see when the next event is scheduled.
