Pedestrian Flown to Hospital After Crash

An 18-year-old pedestrian remains in "critical, but stable condition" after being flown by helicopter to Jefferson University Hospital Tuesday afternoon, according to Horsham Police.

The teen, who has not been identified by police, is said to have run into the side of a car traveling east on Horsham Road, according to Horsham Police Lt. Jon Clark. The girl remained in the hospital on Thursday afternoon, Clark said.

Upon impact, the driver took "evasive action," as evidenced in skid marks on the roadway, according to Clark.

"We don't know why she ran out into the road," he said of the girl.

Clark said he did not know if the teen is from the area, or is visiting family. Drugs and alcohol are not thought to be contributing factors, according to Clark.

The crash occurred soon after 12:30 p.m. near the 1100 block of Horsham Road. The road, from the intersection of Keith Valley Road to beyond the crash scene was closed for about an hour as police worked to reconstruct the crash scene, according to Clark.
