Car Fire Closes County Line Road

A car struck a utility pole, burst into flames and caused power outages for a portion of Horsham Township Monday morning.

The one-vehicle crash occurred at County Line and Park roads in Horsham at about 8:42 a.m.

Only minor injuries resulted from the crash, according to Horsham Police Deputy Chief Bill Daly.

The crash "looks worse than it is," Daly said, adding that the driver "got out ok" and is for the "most part uninjured."

The crash is under investigation, but Daly said there's no indication that the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

County Line Road is closed from Park Road to Chestnut Lane. Daly said on Tuesday afternoon that it is expected to reopen at about 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Besides police, PennDOT and PECO crews were on scene Monday. The pole knocked out power to a portion of County Line Road for more than an hour.

Peter Choate, caretaker of the Strawbridge-Penrose house, which sits adjacent to Graeme Park, said the home's power has since been restored.

"We saw a lot of brown smoke," Choate said of the minutes following the crash.
