100 Miles and Running

Pennypack Elementary School students and staff are committed to running or walking 100 miles at school.

Run or walk 100 miles at school?

No problem for students and staff at Pennypack Elementary School.

The school established its own 100 mile club and is participating in Active Schools Acceleration Project, a nationwide program championed by First Lady Michelle Obama.

Staff and school administrators are encouraging students in kindergarten through fifth-grade to run or walk 100 miles together throughout the 2013-14 school year. As part of the school-wide wellness venture, students can run or walk laps around the school’s walking path on the school playground, or on the field which includes a one-quarter mile loop.

“We’re so encouraged that our students are excited about this program, and that they’re quickly learning how a healthy lifestyle can be fun,” said Pennypack Principal Amy Roslevege in a press release. “It’s exciting that our entire school gets to further improving not only our students’ minds, but also their wellness.”
