Weekend Planner: Light Tree, Meet Santa

With less than three weeks to go before Christmas, Hatboro and Horsham are offering several chances this weekend to meet Jolly Old St. Nick and to take watch a live nativity.

Christmas is less than three weeks away and Hatboro and Horsham are brimming with holiday festivities. Here are some options:

 

Where/when: Union Library of Hatboro, 243 S. York Road, Hatboro, Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy Christmas carols while watching Santa arrive by vintage fire truck to light the tree in front of the library as part of the borough’s annual tradition. Afterward, children can meet Santa.

Where/when: Hatboro Baptist Church, 32 N. York Road, Hatboro, Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Why go: Ring in the holiday season with this annual Christmas program, which features a live nativity on the front lawn, plus a visit from Father Christmas.

Cost: Free

HEARTH COOKING AT GRAEME PARK  

Where/when: Graeme Park, 859 County Line Road, Horsham, Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Why go: You can prepare a full colonial meal over an open wood fire, as would have been enjoyed by the Graeme family during their time in the Keith House.

 Each class focuses on the seasonal availability of foods in Southeastern Pennsylvania and includes a hands-on lesson in open hearth cooking and the opportunity to enjoy your authentic meal.

Cost: $55

CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL    

Where/when: St. Catherine of Siena, 321 Witmer Road, Horsham, Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Why go: A Christmas pageant featuring children of the parish will be presented and visitors will have the opportunity to browse the old-fashioned Christmas market, featuring wares such as pottery, jewelry and more.

Cost: Free 

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT TO BENEFIT HURRICANE SANDY VICTIMS

Where/when: Calvary Presbyterian Church, 405 Easton Road, Willow Grove, Sunday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Why go: See the church’s young actors perform the birth of Christ.

Cost: Free, but donations will be accepted to benefit Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
