Travel the World with Games in Philly

Penn Museum hosts a World Culture Day event on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Fall can be drab, so brighten up your life by getting out of dodge. Luckily, Philadelphia isn't too far away for fall fun—and our Fall in Philly feature can help guide you there.

If you feel like venturing out a little farther from home, check here for a weekly suggestion of something fun or interesting to do in the City of Brotherly Love. Whether it's restaurant to try, a festival to attend or special museum exhibits, we'll feature something different every Thursday.

This week, "Travel the World with Games" at Penn Museum. For World Culture Day, Penn Museum invites guests of all ages to learn and play a variety of international games. Instructors will be available throughout the museum's international galleries to teach guests about the games.

From 1 to 4 p.m. instructors will be on hand to instruct visitors on how to play games such as Go (an ancient game of Japan), Backgammon (originating in Asia Minor), Senet (originating from Egypt, and perhaps the oldest game in the world), the Royal Game of Ur (discovered in ancient Iraq) and many more.

But the highlight of the afternoon takes place at 3 p.m. The Super Domino Brothers Mike and Steve Perrucci will spend roughly 15 hours setting up 10,000 handmade, colorful domino pieces for an Ultimate Domino Show.
