Suspended 'Duck Dynasty' Star Preached in Pottstown

Phil Robertson made his anti-gay remarks at a Pottstown church in 2010, back before "Duck Dynasty" was the hit it is today.

It turns out Pennsylvanians heard Phil Robertson's anti-gay remarks long before GQ and the rest of the world.

Robertson, the now-embattled father on A&E's "Duck Dynasty," was suspended by the network after making anti-gay remarks to GQ Magazine in a recent profile.

Members of Berean Bible Church in Pottstown are no strangers to Robertson's anti-gay remarks. Robertson preached at the independent church on East High Street back in 2010, back before "Duck Dynasty" was a hit.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reached out to Berean seeking comment, but no one responded, the paper said.

Robertson's comments and subsequent suspension set off a firestorm of debate. GLAAD and the Human Rights Campaign condemned Robertson's statements, while former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin Tweeted that "Free speech is endangered species; those "intolerants" hatin' & taking on Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing personal opinion take on us all."
