Hatboro Home Site of New NBC TV Episode

A Newington Drive home in Hatboro served as the setting for the filming of an episode of "Do No Harm," a new TV show premiering on NBC Jan. 31.

As the temperature Wednesday morning stalled at a real feel of 8 degrees, cast and crew of a new NBC TV show took refuge in a Newington Drive home in Hatboro.

Outside, crews, covered practically from head to toe in heavy coats, gloves, face wraps, and clutching presumably warm drinks in their hands, gave direction as actors inside filmed scenes from a new NBC program, "Do No Harm," which debuts on Jan. 31 at 10 p.m.

Starring Steven Pasquale and "The Cosby Show" mom, Phylicia Rashad, the show is set in Philadelphia, according to the show's location manager, Demian Resnick.

Since the scenes being filmed Wednesday are supposed to have taken place 30 years ago, Resnick said he sought a house that had not been renovated and was "vintage in the right way."

Crews will return to Hatboro next week for filming in the Hatboro Cemetery, Resnick said.

Rudi Fischer, a 1998 Hatboro-Horsham High School graduate who grew up in the neighborhood where Tuesday's filming occurred, said he coordinated with a realtor to find a home that would be up for sale soon. His find, at 21 Newington Dr., was the perfect fit.

"I knew the type of houses they were looking for," said Fischer, the show's key location scout.

Fischer said other filming locations include Fort Washington State Park, Philadelphia and Bensalem.

Filming began in the summer and will conclude soon for the first season of "Do No Harm," Fischer said.

"This is the home stretch," he said.

Hatboro resident Artie Williams left the confines of his warm home to venture onto busy Newington Drive to watch as crews entered and exited white tents propped on lawns, called "action," and gave the otherwise quiet street a taste of the Hollywood limelight.

"It's exciting," Williams said. "The story is interesting to us."

Williams, whose nearby home was being used as a "holding house" to help warm up extra cast and crew, said he was happy to be a part of the production.

"This is awesome," Williams said. "The show is going to be good."

Do No Harm premieres on Jan. 31 at 10 p.m. on NBC. The episode featuring scenes shot from inside the Newington Drive home and the Hatboro Cemetery is part of the last episode of the season and is expected to air in the end of April or early May.

Nope. I heard the H.R.A. thinks it is commercializing our town and way of life. In fact, some of them might actually take a shower today or tomorrow and get dressed and leave their houses to hand-out "stop the Do No Harm show" signs that might end up on two or three yards besides their own.

Pretty cool. I run down this street sometimes. It's also great for getting around the light on York and Warminster.

In addition - Hatboro Baptist Church was the holding area today for cast, crew, wardrobe, and catering. Quite an exciting day in the Boro!
