Farm Tour Helps Bikers Explore Co-ops

Weavers Way Co-op is hosting an urban farm bike tour on Saturday.

Hatboro and Horsham offer plenty of summer fun, but sometimes the lure of Philadelphia beckons — and our new Summer in the City feature can help guide you to the fun.

If you feel like venturing out a little farther from home, check here for a weekly suggestion of something fun or interesting to do in the City of Brotherly Love. Whether it's a restaurant to try, a festival to attend or special museum exhibits, we'll feature something different every Thursday.

Saturday venture to Philly and explore farms on an urban bike tour. But hurry up and secure a spot because online registration ends tonight!

The Urban Farm Bike Tour includes two rides: one for beginners or people who'd prefer a shorter ride, and one for more experienced riders who want to enjoy a longer ride at a faster pace.

While venturing through some of Philly's vibrant neighborhoods (such as Kensington, Germantown and Roxborough), riders will listen in on talks with some of Philadelphia’s pioneering urban farmers.

Both rides begin and end at Weavers Way Co-op Farm. The longer ride visits Henry Got Crops CSA, Urban Girls Farm, Refugee Community Farm, the Wyck House and more, while the shorter ride makes stops at Wyck House Farm, SHARE, Greensgrow, Mill Creek Farm and more before heading back to Weavers Way.

Around 3 p.m. both groups return to Weavers Way to relax and enjoy grilled food and beer before calling it a day.
